Chris is currently the Director of Fuels, Forecourt & Advertising for Rutter’s convenience stores, in York, PA. He is the 11th generation of the family to join Rutter’s, dating back to the founding of their farm in 1747. Chris grew up in the convenience industry, working in his family’s stores beginning at age 13, as well as attending and participating in various industry events for nearly 20 years.
Chris attended St. Joseph’s University and graduated in 2011 with a bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Finance. Following undergrad, he moved to Plano, TX for 5 years, working at Crossmark as a food broker, and completing their Management Trainee Program. In 2016, Chris moved to Washington D.C. to attend George Washington University’s Global MBA program, receiving his master’s degree in 2018, with a concentration in Finance. In July of 2018, Chris returned to his roots, joining Rutter’s as Director of Fuels and Forecourt, later adding Advertising to his responsibilities with the company.
In his free time, Chris enjoys travelling and golfing, which includes a quest to play the Top 100 Golf Courses in the World with his father, Scott Hartman. Chris lives in York with his wife, Hilarie, and their two dogs, Bella and Duncan.
